So this may be confusing to some folks but a Realtor, Real Estate Broker and Real Estate Agent are all the same thing but different.  Are you confused? It’s kind of simple.  A Realtor is actually a brand name.  You can become a Realtor as long as you abide by the ethical and moral standards of the national and local board of Realtors.  They are basically another tool to help filter out bad and shady Real Estate Agents.

As far as the difference in Colorado between a Real Estate Agent and a Real Estate Broker it would be the fact that the real estate commission no longer licences agents as agents.  They are now all real estate brokers.  It is much better for the consumer because we are all equal in our education.  Some states, not to mention any names, Florida, pretty much gave out real estate licences when you renewed your drivers license as a consolation prize (and we all know how that turned out).   Here in Colorado things couldn’t be more different.  We need to do long hours of school then we do what is called continuing education.  That is more school and that never stops as long as we have our license.
