We also are of the opinion that open houses truly benefit the listing broker a lot more than anyone else. It is a dirty secret that open houses are strictly for listing agents to gather information about buyers. Most buyers that are working with an agent don’t do open homes. They set up appointments to see the listings in off hours. So this is a great opportunity for the listing agent to gather names for their data base. Not many homes sell from open houses. It is usually people just poking around to see their neighbors house or people in the very early stages of buying a home.
