It seems the more listing appointments I go on the more I see other agents dropping their fees or just doing a listing on a “flat fee”. This is a very dangerous thing for sellers to do. It is true that for the last few years we have had a sellers market and any fool could sell a home that was priced correctly. That is all changing. I have seen real estate agents offer to list a home for less money than I spend on marketing a single home. How do these agents sell for that little, run a business, market the home with proper market exposure and still manage to eat? Well they need to cut something out of the equation. Going with discount real estate agents and services are probably one of the biggest mistakes a seller can make. I work (on the other side of table) with plenty of discount real estate agents and I can tell you they are worth every penny you pay them. They are the ones that have no idea what they are doing, are impossible to get on the phone, can’t negotiate and want nothing more than to close the deal even if it doesn’t benefit the client at all.

Just like anything, you get what you pay for. I personally work 7 days a week and you can reach me by phone from 8AM to 10PM as long as I am not with a client or at one of my kid’s sporting events. If you hire a discount agent they work less since they basically make minimum wage and they don’t feel like their client deserves full service. You can compare my services to them like this, they are the dollar store and I am Lamborghini dealership. Yes you are correct, they aren’t even selling the same product or service my company does. I have had countless people call me and say “I am so frustrated with my real estate agent and I need one that is just going to call me back”. I laugh because I never leave a client hanging. When they list with me they are amazed with the service I provide, and I don’t even answer my phone but I do it till 10PM.
