El Rancho Restaurant
El Rancho, established in 1948, has a long history in Evergreen, Colorado. It has been through a lot of owners and a lot of hand, especially in recent years. There have been owners from every type of background and style of restaurant. None have them have really been successful in recent years. Jack Buchanan, the new owner is hoping to change all that. Jack Buchanan purchased the property a few years ago and had a few different tenants try to run the restaurant. Jack has recently taken over day to day operations in hopes in keeping El Rancho alive. Full disclosure: I know Jack and he is an awesome guys and I am hoping El Rancho crushes it.
El Rancho Location is Perfect!
One of the best things about El Rancho is it’s location. No matter where you are in the Denver/Mountain area you can stop in for beer and a burger. Just off I 70 makes it a perfect stop on your way back down the mountain after a nice day of skiing.
Recent El Rancho “Challenges”
When the restaurant had some heavy financial turmoil, including a brush with bankruptcy, El Rancho was put up for sale. In a significant development, Travis McAfoos and Jack Buchanan partnered to purchase the property, just hoping to breathe new life into the establishment. This purchase was acquired through a bankruptcy sale, reflecting the complex financial challenges that El Rancho faced.
Frank Bonanno Was Probably Not the Best Fit
Buchanan and McAfoos enlisted Bonanno Concepts, out of Denver ran by Frank Bonanno. Known for his successful portfolio of restaurants in Denver.
Frank Bonanno was out within 2 years under a bit of dramatic and immature exit. Evergreen is a special town and it takes a little more than what they had to offer to make it.
El Rancho Moving Forward
Jack Buchanan is going to be a refreshing change for El Rancho. Jack’s deep roots in Evergreen is just what this historical restaurant needs. We are all looking forward to seeing what El Rancho Brewery and Restaurant will be like in summer of 2024!
El Rancho is Dog Friendly
